Upgrading a shared model to a new Tekla Structures version
If you need to move a shared model to a new Tekla Structures version in the middle of a project, we recommend that you follow these instructions:
Ensure that all users have written out their changes.
The admin reads in all the changes and saves the local model. At this point, we recommend that you create a backup copy of the model.
The admin locks the model in the Management console so that other users cannot accidentally write out changes to this model anymore.
The admin opens and saves the local model with the new Tekla Structures version with the Save command.

Moving sections to another drawing whilst keeping the section arrows on the original drawing
Question:
How can we move section views from one drawing to another? I tried the "Link drawing views" command which works, however, when I go to delete the section views off the source drawing, the section arrows on the target drawing disappear as well. Is there a way to stop this from happening?
Answer:
We have this option to move the view to drawing. It does allow you to move the view to another drawing while still maintaining the arrowhead.

Base Point: Location in the model coordinates
Question: After setting my coordinates in the Base Point dialog box from the Location in the model options at the bottom, the boxes turn red and the Modify button is greyed out. Why does this happen?
Answer: Based on the Define a base point section of the linked article Base points, all Location in the Model coordinates have a limitation of +/- 10 km (33,000 ft) from the origin. Anything greater than that will have to use the General coordinate system at the top with default settings East coordinate (E) as X, and North coordinate (N) as Y. Z will always represent the Elevation.

My Model Grid is Red: Model in Work plane mode
It is possible for the color of your grid to change even if you have not made modifications to the color from the Grid properties:
This could cause your model elevation and/or section views to have an unusual setup
This change happens after changing the plane switch from View to Work plane at the Select-snap-plane toolbar at the bottom right of your screen as seen on #12 of Getting familiar with the user interface. Many times users change it without noticing it.
To resolve, simply change the option from Work plane back to View plane.
Keep in mind that the color of the grid may not always

Plates smaller than 1/16"
Question: Is it possible to model a plate thinner than 1/16"?
Answer: To model a plate smaller than 1/16, go to File > Settings > Options > Units and Decimals and adjust the Section dimension under the Catalogs tab to be a decimal inch. You can also change the number of decimals if needed.
Keep in mind that when you change the settings back to ft-in, the plate will show up as either 1/16" or 0" under the model's properties. However, if you measure it in the model or in drawings, it will be the right thickness. In drawings, you will have to change dimensions' precision from their

What is the difference between a subscription license and a perpetual license?

A perpetual software license is paid up-front. A yearly maintenance fee then grants access to support and upgrades.
I am an existing customer with a perpetual license - what does Subscription Licensing mean for me? Can I continue to use my perpetual licenses?
