If you need to move a shared model to a new Tekla Structures version in the middle of a project, we recommend that you follow these instructions:
Ensure that all users have written out their changes.
The admin reads in all the changes and saves the local model. At this point, we recommend that you create a backup copy of the model.
The admin locks the model in the Management console so that other users cannot accidentally write out changes to this model anymore.
The admin opens and saves the local model with the new Tekla Structures version with the Save command.

How can we move section views from one drawing to another? I tried the "Link drawing views" command which works, however, when I go to delete the section views off the source drawing, the section arrows on the target drawing disappear as well. Is there a way to stop this from happening?
We have this option to move the view to drawing. It does allow you to move the view to another drawing while still maintaining the arrowhead.
Open the source drawing, select the target drawing in the Document manager, select the view in the currently open drawing, righ mouse click, and
It is often misunderstood that an applicationpart of Tekla Structures functionality that is developed in order to extend the capability of Tekla Structures but that is not included in the Tekla Structures installation that uses multi-thread processing guarantees ultimate performance. This article gives some explanations on why it is not that straightforward, and why Tekla Structures is able to give exceptional performance for detailing any project to its finest details.
What is a multi-core processor?
Due to physical constraints, the processor manufacturers realized that it is impossible to
What is the difference between a Trackball mouse and a new mouse? Can the we still rely on the Trackball mouse for Tekla Structures? Does it need a special driver to function well with Tekla Structures?
In general it is just an old technology with a ball mouse. So it should be working fine.
Both regular mouse and trackballs are treated the same.
Trimble is now offering a new type of subscription license, let's take a quick second to understand the difference between the types. One quick note is all of our online subscription licenses are named user licenses and not a pool of licenses.
This license is accessible on the cloud, is a named user license, and has a limited number of reassignments allowed during an annual period.

Question: After setting my coordinates in the Base Point dialog box from the Location in the model options at the bottom, the boxes turn red and the Modify button is greyed out. Why does this happen?
Answer: Based on the Define a base point section of the linked article Base points, all Location in the Model coordinates have a limitation of +/- 10 km (33,000 ft) from the origin. Anything greater than that will have to use the General coordinate system at the top with default settings East coordinate (E) as X, and North coordinate (N) as Y. Z will always represent the Elevation.
It is possible for the color of your grid to change even if you have not made modifications to the color from the Grid properties:
This could cause your model elevation and/or section views to have an unusual setup
This change happens after changing the plane switch from View to Work plane at the Select-snap-plane toolbar at the bottom right of your screen as seen on #12 of Getting familiar with the user interface. Many times users change it without noticing it.
To resolve, simply change the option from Work plane back to View plane.
Keep in mind that the color of the grid may not always

Question: Is it possible to model a plate thinner than 1/16"?
Answer: To model a plate smaller than 1/16, go to File > Settings > Options > Units and Decimals and adjust the Section dimension under the Catalogs tab to be a decimal inch. You can also change the number of decimals if needed.
Keep in mind that when you change the settings back to ft-in, the plate will show up as either 1/16" or 0" under the model's properties. However, if you measure it in the model or in drawings, it will be the right thickness. In drawings, you will have to change dimensions' precision from their

What is the difference between a subscription license and a perpetual license?
The core difference between the two is that a subscription is priced typically on an annual basis and is an on-going subscription that includes support, upgrades, and access to online services. A perpetual software license is paid up-front. A yearly maintenance fee then grants access to support and upgrades.
I am an existing customer with a perpetual license - what does Subscription Licensing mean for me? Can I continue to use my perpetual licenses?
Yes, you can continue to use your perpetual
Tekla Structures is an advanced modelling information system and as such requires a certain level of setting up in order to meet each of our clients drawing office standards.
This guide is intended to provide you with a good understanding of some fundamental concepts for the administration of Tekla Structures, such as, saved settings, file storage and locations. As well as concepts on managing model objects and filters in order to create the users desired drawing output at a style level.
